Biography

André Carrasquero

André Carrasquero is a pianist, arranger, composer and producer born in Montréal and raised in Caracas, Venezuela.
He began his career as a studio musician in 1983. This eventually led him to become a producer for other artists as well as for himself, as well as a composer for film and tv. In 1994, his album Tudo
Brasil was nominated for the 1994 'Premio Casa del Artista' as best independent production.

Throughout the 1990s, Carrasquero performed in all major Jazz Festivals in Venezuela with the "André Carrasquero Trio", the "Solera Jazz Band", and the "Tudo Brasil Band". He shared the stage with many legendary musicians, including Arturo Sandoval, Eddie Daniels, and Nestor Torres.
In 1998, André returned to his country of birth, Canada and became very active in the local music scene. André was the driving force behind the highly acclaimed Afro Cuban jazz group 'Zapato Negro'.
Their 'Live at the Cellar Jazz' album was nominated for outstanding Jazz Recording of the year (2007) by the West Coast Music Awards.
In 2004 Carrasquero produced Latin Roots, the first solo album of international singer/songwriter Susana Williams. In 2021 he co-produced her second solo album "We're A Memory." He is currently the music director of Williams' Latin Jazz quartet headlining at such venues like the "Shadbolt Centre", the "Gibson’s Landing Jazz Festival" and the legendary "Frankie's Jazz Club"..
